Today, the deluxe edition of slain rapper Pop Smoke's album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon is here. The new tracks seem to feature more drill and New York artists, so I'll review the new tracks below.
1. "Hotel Lobby"
This track is not very good. Pop Smoke is singing on this track, and switches his voice right before the first verse, which makes me uncomfortable. I will say that it doesn't make my eardrums bleed, so that's a plus. I'd give it a strong 3/10.
2. "Showin Off Pt.1" ft. Fivio Foreign
This track is what the original album needed. Aside from Pop Smoke and Fivio Foreign from not sounding like themselves on here, the beat compliments their rap style very well, enough to earn a 6/10 from me.
3. "Showin Off Pt.2" ft. Fivio Foreign
On the sequel to the previous track, it is basically the same song, except longer. However, the two sound better on this track, although Fivio has his basic "Big Drip" flow. The track is infinitely better than the first, so it earns a 7/10 from me.
4. "Iced Out Audemars" ft. Dafi Woo
Pop Smoke sounds pretty bad on this track, but Dafi Woo saves the song with his more energetic vocals. I don't have much to say abou this track, so I'll give it a 6/10.
5. "Woo Year" ft. Dread Woo
Pop Smoke sounds okay on this track, and the production on this song is great. However, Dread Woo is not very good on this, so I'll give this track a 5/10.
6. "Tsunami" ft. Davido
Davido sounds cornier than corn on this track, and Pop Smoke just re-uses lines from other songs on here while sounding like garbage. The track earns a 2/10.
7. "Backseat" ft. PnB Rock
Honestly, who even cares for PnB Rock anymore? The last time I heard the dude was on that awful XXXTentacion track last year. The track sounds like a song written for a teenage coming-of-age film, making it even more cheesy. Pop Smoke sounds horrible singing on here, and it's so bad this track gets a 1/10.
8. "Imperfections"
Why is Pop Smoke singing AGAIN on here? I wanted the deluxe to have some hard drill songs, not corny love songs! This track gets a 1/10.
9. "She Feelin Nice" ft. Jamie Foxx
Now Pop Smoke is doing a pop song with none other than Jamie Foxx, who last had a charting single in 2015. The two artists sound okay on here, but not enough to redeem the last few songs. I'd give it a 5/10.
10. "Paranoia" ft. Gunna & Young Thug
Pop Smoke sounds awful on this track and Thugger sounds as bland as ever, with his unappealing lines and vocals. Gunna is pretty decent on here, but I definitely won't be returning to this track. I'd give it a 4/10.
11. "Hello" ft. A Boogie wit da Hoodie
Pop Smoke is actually okay on this track! And Boogie sounds great on this beat, which is produced by the legendary CashMoneyAP. The track earns a 8/10 from me because I'll be definitely revisiting it all the time.
12. "Clearr"
Why is half of the track just the instrumental? And also, this is mixed awful. Pop Smoke isn't much good on here either, so I'll give this track a 3/10.
13. "Yea Yea Remix" ft. Queen Naija
The original track was pretty bad, and now we have Queen Naija to make it even worse. The last time I heard her name was when she released "Medicine", and she's been irrelevant ever since. I'd give this track a 2/10.
14. "Diana Remix" ft. King Combs & Calboy
The original was as bad as "Yea Yea", with the same flow and all, and Calboy adds nothing new to the track, making me give it a strong 2/10.
15. "Enjoy Yourself Remix" ft. Burna Boy
Removing Karol G off the track is a plus, I guess, but Pop Smoke is still bad on here. Burna Boy's verse is laughable, and there's nothing else to say, so this track gets a 3/10.
OVERALL RATING: 3.8/10
