I remember the first Agent Cody Banks film being pretty funny. I was also a bit young at the time, so if I re-watch it, maybe my opinions will have changed. All I can say is that the sequel is just a film, a generic film.

I've really got to hand it to Anthony Anderson for keeping this film alive, with his role as Derek bringing the film all of its laughs. Frankie Muniz delivers a more lackluster performance than before, and the other starring cast members don't even try (although Anna Chancellor gives a somewhat decent performance). But yeah, Anthony Anderson really helped keep this film on its legs. He better have been paid a lot.
This film actually delivered on action scenes, and it was as much as I expected for an obvious cash-grab sequel. It is still a bit low, but I'm fine with it. It just wasn't anything special, and it felt like a normal spy movie. Also, some of these lines said by the actors in the movie are extremely awkward. They sound robotic (I mean, the film is about stopping an evil mind control plot), and I found myself cringing a bit.
Although Anthony Anderson buoys the film with an exuberant performance, Agent Cody Banks 2 lands its destination and finishes off as a boring, unmemorable film.
RATING: 6/10
