Disney Closing Down Blue Sky Studios is the Last Straw for Many People

After 34 years, the animation powerhouse known as Blue Sky Studios will shut down in April of this year. They were the studio behind the Ice Age franchise and other beloved films such as Rio, The Peanuts Movie, and Ferdinand. The studio's last film will now be Spies in Disguise, a well-received film that was, unfortunately, a box office dud.

But what is really ticking people off is the cancellation of Nimona, a film adaptation of the webcomic of the same name that was 10 months from completion. To throw away all of the hard work because they can't handle a third animation studio is utter nonsense, with a Twitter user even pointing out that Disney has money to re-theme Splash Mountain, a Disneyland attraction, but they can claim that they don't have the financial stability to keep Blue Sky open.

When Disney acquired Fox, they also dissolved a studio by the name of Fox 2000 Pictures, which produced commercial hits such as Life of Pi and Marley & Me. This is the main criticism of Disney, which is their impulse reaction to close things off after buying them. There are loads of people who are fed up with Disney's money-scheming antics, with some Twitter users stating that it won't be long before Disney buys all the other animation studios and closes them down.
