This film wasn't too well received by fans, but it looked cool, so I decided to give it a try and decide for myself. It's not the best, but it sure does have a lot of wit and action.

The film chronicles Clark Kent's origins as the hero Superman, with him teaming up with the Martian Manhunter to fight a large creature that could destroy Metropolis. It shows Clark stopping evil before he had his suit, and a lot more action once he has the suit on.
Clark Kent as himself and Superman is likable enough, and the Martian Manhunter is really well-structured in this film. Of course, he didn't need to paralyze Clark's father to talk to the boy. Lois Lane is quite annoying as a grabby character who will risk her life just to get a story, and this is before she and Clark get in a relationship. However, the real standout is Lobo, a smartass with a rapier wit that likes to fool around (and he's immortal).
The animation is really neat, especially in the action sequences, which are passable. They're a step down from the glory days of DC and their animated flicks, but the film still packs a punch. And the punch has a lot of humor, too.
All in all, Superman: Man of Tomorrow is not the best piece of animation DC has to offer, but its snappy humor and electrifying action will keep viewers entertained.
RATING: 7/10
